November 2007

TORONTO (Ontario, Canada) - November 5, 2007

I’ve always thought it important to continue to get “our story” heard across Canada and the United States and not assume that everyone knows exactly what we are.

For the record, we are not a broker. We are a Managing General Underwriter (MGU), providing a wide range of Special Risk Life, Accident, & Health products for our clients. These clients are not the ultimate insured, but licensed brokers, agents, and consultants.

Our goal has always been to service the Broker and find the best solution for their client. If the insured person or persons are happy with how their insurance representative has responded, then we feel good about our role too. Our first priority is always to solve the broker’s challenges.

It is especially rewarding when those who have dealt with us for many years are comfortable in having our underwriters from time to time deal directly with their client. We are always happy to do this as I feel it’s a great service to provide access to our technical expertise. This is a reflection of the trust that our clients have in us and our unwillingness to compromise that trust. The lines of communication are of course essential to make sure all parties are kept in the loop.

Should you ever have any questions or concerns about our products and services and wish to speak to me directly, please do not hesitate to do so. I would be pleased to be of assistance.

Earlier this month Sutton & Co. announced the launch of a new company, Sutton Sportscover Ltd., a new joint venture with global sports insurer, Sportscover. The new company will focus on sports insurance in Canada, providing comprehensive, tailor-made insurance for sports federations, associations and clubs.

The joint venture brings together two experienced international specialists in the sports insurance field. W J Sutton has been a well-respected name in special risk accident and health insurance for many years in the Canadian and US markets. Sportscover is an Australian owned company that has expanded from its Asia Pacific base to become a major name in sports insurance in Europe and last year launched a syndicate at Lloyd’s.

Sutton Sportscover Limited will offer a broad range of sports insurance including Personal Accident, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers, Property and Contingency Insurances through Lloyd’s.

CANADIANS WORKING IN THE USA

Sutton & Co. has been providing comprehensive medical, life, and disability packages to Canadians working abroad for almost 30 years. This has encompassed countries all over the world, including those with elevated exposures due to civil unrest and war risk.

US Medical exposure however, has posed a unique challenge to the insurance industry over the years, due to the high cost of medical services in the United States. We are pleased to announce that Sutton & Co. has recently developed a US Medical product specifically designed to meet those challenges, while providing comprehensive coverage to Canadians moving to the US to work for extended periods of time.

The plan includes $1 million of Medical coverage, and can accommodate both Canadians who have maintained their Provincial Government Healthcare (PGHP) coverage, or those who have lost it due to long term posting outside of Canada. Because this plan is designed to better reflect services provided within the US medical system, in addition to traditional coverages, it includes benefits such as Well-baby Care and Home Health Care Services, and provides higher annual exam allowances. An extensive PPO Network is also included, which allows us to offer higher co-insurance levels to those who chose the Network Providers.

Because we understand the importance of full spectrum coverage, Maternity and Dental benefits are available as options that can be added under the US Medical plan.

In January 2008, the plan will add a cross-border drug card to its line of features, which will allow the purchase of prescription drugs while in either the US or Canada.

We are also pleased to provide Major Medical coverage to inpatriates to Canada, working for a Canadian company for short or extended periods, including Americans.

SPECIAL RISK PRODUCTS IN CANADA and US

Sutton & Co. has been underwriting US Special Risk products since 1978. We started out providing Disability and Accidental Death to professional athletes. While this is still a big part of what we do, we provide specialty life, accident, and health coverage to a variety of occupations in both Canada and the US.

In addition, we are now able to issue domestic A+ rated paper in the US on some of our key Special Risk product categories.

Basic, Voluntary and Travel AD&D have been in our product portfolio since our inception in 1978. In addition to writing standard employer group AD&D plans, our forte lies in groups and individuals with a Special Risk component. Our most common requests include high limit benefits for executive classes, groups with foreign travel, expatriates, War Risk exposure, chartered air and helicopter risk, and unusual or high-risk occupations.

Individuals can also be provided Accidental Death coverage to supplement personal life insurance, to be used as an interim solution while waiting for underwriting approval on significant face amount policies or as an alternative coverage for individuals declined for life insurance, perhaps due to past travel exposure.

High net worth individuals often require increased levels of Disability coverage, beyond the standard maximums domestic insurers provide. These individuals may also have extensive worldwide travel that may take them into higher risk areas and war zones.

Other circumstances can also increase the need for our high limit product. The disability of a key employee, not easily replaced, can result in a significant loss of expertise and revenue to a corporation. Key man insurance can help to mitigate those losses while the employer makes alternate arrangements.

When an active shareholder in an organization can no longer participate in the business due to a disability, the other shareholders typically have a Buy-Sell agreement in place to ensure continuance of the business.

Our high limit disability product ensures that funds are available to buy a disabled partner's share of the business.
